This assignment tasked students with crafting a magazine print article centered on a particular individual, community, or event that holds personal significance to us. I chose to write about the sapphic community at Florida State University, exploring how queer women and nonbinary people connect with one another on campus and within the Tallahassee scene at large.

In Florida State's Introduction to English Studies course, students are instructed on how to produce creative writing across various genres. I Will Be Your Modern Prophet is a letter which captures my experience growing up Catholic while wrestling with my identity as a lesbian.

In this assignment, students were invited to assemble an archive of artifacts that capture a particular purpose of everyday writing (mundane texts that serve ordinary audiences). My project centers on fridge magnets and their unique ability to symbolize aspects of personal identity.

As a means of sustaining critical discourse, this paper analyzes the themes of gender roles, emotional intimacy, mortality, art, and subjectivity represented in To The Lighthouse. This draft synthesizes the text within the context of Virginia Woolf's life and career as a female writer in a Victorian society dominated by patriarchal ideals.
